A Vibrant History:

Paraiba tourmaline has elevated its status as one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world in its short 30 year history

Cuprian elbaite are called by the state where they were first discovered in 1989 by Heitor Dimas Barbosa in the hills of Brazil. The entire area has been dug up in the present day and resources appear to have run dry. This led to the gem's elevated status as an extremely sought-after collector’s gemstone. Mark Henry works exclusively with only the highest quality natural Paraiba tourmaline of Mozambique and Brazilian origin.

Electrifying Hues:

Mark Henry only selects breathtaking Paraiba that exhibit electrifying hues that range from green to blue

Paraíba tourmaline has often been described as "electric" for the way its vibrant blue-green strikes wonder into those who see it. The tourmaline's copper contents is instrumental to the neon-like range of blues and the incandescent glow that lights up the stone and makes it unlike any other gem. The radiant colors are a true testament to the earth's remarkable and spectacular beauty.

The Significance:

The Paraíba tourmaline is a birthstone for those born in October

Symbolically speaking, this precious gem represents wisdom, voice, insight, and creativity. As a whole, gemstones with a blue hue are said to represent serenity, stability, and calmness. Some have also connected this stone with metaphysical properties such as clarity of mind and a feeling of justice and power.

Caring for a Paraiba tourmaline:

How to take care of Mark Henry’s Paraiba tourmaline jewelry

Paraiba tourmaline ranks 7.5 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness. This is relatively durable and is a wearable gemstone perfect for fine jewelry. When taking care of your Paraiba, make sure you don’t expose the stone to harsh chemicals or use ultrasonic cleaners to clean the stone. Instead, use a mild soap and warmly to gently wash the paraiba and dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
